Led Zeppelin were set to return to North America in 1980 and tour in support of their then latest release In Through The Out Door.  Peter Grant made an announcement on September 11, 1980 that their North American tour would commence on October 17, 1980 in Montreal Canada with the tour concluding in Chicago Illinois on November 15, 1980.  As part of promoting the tour dubbed “Led Zeppelin The 1980’s Part 1” four advertisements were run in local newspapers in Buffalo, Chicago, Cleveland, and Detroit.  Unlike the full page advertisements in the other three newspapers the above example is the advertisement that ran in the Detroit Free Press on September 24, 1980 and is about the third of the size of a full newspaper page.  The early editions of the newspaper had the ad running on page 12B, while the evening editions had the ad on page 28.  Due to the tragic passing of their friend and drummer John Bonham the tour never took place and all concert dates were cancelled.
