Released in 2007 Mothership is a compilation of songs from the various studio albums Led Zeppelin released while together as a band. With a couple of changes, Mothership is essentially a repackaging of the previously released Early Days, as well as Latter Days releases. Pictured above is an example of Led Zeppelin’s Mothership release in a sealed longbox. In the 1980’s and 1990’s cd versions of album releases were sold on a long cardboard box that usually had the album release artwork on the outside of the packaging. Ultimately, longboxes were discontinued. While the longbox may have assisted in deterring theft of the cd product, it was not cost effective for the record companies to produce and was extremely ad for the environment.
