To test how the compact disc packaging artwork would visually look proof sheets were generated to check how the image and colors would appear as the final product.  The above image is an example of a massive proof sheet for the release of Mothership on compact disc.  The proof sheet is printed on a heavier paper stock, and you can see the small markings that let the printer know the exact placement of each image.  This proof sheet shows a test of three examples of how the product would look.

In addition, the outer edge of a proof sheet shows color bars which show the basic colors utilized for printing.  In addition to the four colors which are utilized for printing black, cyan, magenta, and yellow, other colors are represented.  For an in depth write up of how the color bars are utilized please go here.

Proof sheets are rare and generally do not make it to the private collectors market.  They are eye appealing and make for great wall decorations.
